TUMBLING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Minimum 4 athletes - Maximum athletes varies according to class

Tiny Tumblers (3-6 yo)

This class is for athletes (ages 3-6) learning basic tumbling & coordination fundamentals. This class will cover the same skills that would be included in the Tumble 1 Beginner class but in a format that is geared towards younger athletes. In order to move to Tumble 1 Beginner athletes must demonstrate the following skills and have the approval of a Team Illinois staff member:

  • Cartwheel
  • Forward roll
  • Bridge up

Tumble 1 Beginner

This class is for athletes currently working on basic tumbling skills. In order to move to Tumble 1 Advanced athletes must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Cartwheel
  • Round off
  • Back walkover

Tumble 1 Advanced

This class is for athletes currently working on their front walkover, standing back handspring and round off back handspring with a spot. In order to move to Tumble 2 Beginner athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • Front walkover
  • Standing back handspring
  • Round off back handspring

Tumble 2 Beginner

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 1 Advanced skills and are currently working on standing back walkover back handspring, front walkover round off back handspring and round off back handspring series. In order to move to Tumble 2 Advanced athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • Back walkover back handspring
  • Front walkover round off back handspring
  • Round off back handspring series

Tumble 2 Advanced

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 2 Beginner skills and are currently working on standing back handspring series and round off back handspring tuck. In order to move to Tumble 3 Beginner athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • “T” jump back handspring
  • Standing two back handsprings
  • Round off back handspring tuck

Tumble 3 Beginner

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 2 Advanced skills and are working on front walkover round off back handspring tuck as well as punch fronts and aerial cartwheels. In order to move to Tumble 3 Advanced athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • Standing three back handsprings (connected to a “T” jump)
  • Front walkover round off back handspring tuck
  • Punch front and/or aerial cartwheel

Tumble 3 Advanced

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 3 Beginner skills and are working on elite connections (punch fronts & aerial cartwheel) to round off back handspring tucks, beginning stages of layout techniques as well as standing tucks and standing back handspring tucks. In order to move to Tumble 4 athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • Elite connections to round off back handspring tuck
  • Standing tuck and standing back handspring tuck
  • Round off back handspring layout

Tumble 4

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 3 Advanced skills and are working on round off back handspring layouts, standing back handspring layouts, elite connections (punch front step outs, whip passes) in standing and running tumbling. In order to move to Tumble 5 athletes must demonstrate the following skills with a high level of technique:

  • Standing two back handsprings to layout
  • Jumps to standing tuck & back handspring tuck
  • Elite connections to round off back handspring layout

Tumble 5

This class is for athletes who have mastered Tumble 4 skills and are working on round off back handspring fulls, alternate passes through to fulls and double fulls.

  • E-mail or bring the Class Registration Packet (non-TI members) to the first day of class

Please Note: All athletes must be registered online, complete the registration packet & paid in full no later than the first class of the session to secure a spot in that specific class. Walk-in registration is subject to availability.

CLASS POLICIES

  1. All classes will start at their scheduled time and will stretch for the first 10 minutes of the class.
  2. If an athlete is tardy to the class it is their responsibility to be stretched and ready to go upon arrival.
  3. Classes must meet minimum enrollment requirement of 4 athletes to run for the session. Team Illinois reserves the right to combine or cancel any classes if the minimum enrollment requirement is not met.
  4. Make-Up Policy: In order to make up a class, the athlete must call ahead of time. Make-up classes are subject to availability.
